The American Sprint Cars on Tour national series (ASCoT) is a budget minded series with the cars running 360ci, steel block engines with spec Brodix heads. Beginning in 1992, the series historically begins at Florida's East Bay Raceway Park and then travels through Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri and Kansas.
In addition to the season opener at East Bay Raceway Park, other major events in the 2008 schedule include the $10,000-to-win ASCS Knoxville Nationals on July 31 to August 2 and I-30 Speedway's 21st Annual Short Track Nationals on October 23-25, an event that pays $15,000 to win.
A highlight of the 2008 season is Speedweek, which consists of six nights of racing at six different tracks from July 11 to July 19. Speedweek kicks off at 67 Speedway (AR), and then moves onto Little Rock's I-30 Speedway, Creek County Speedway (OK), Devil's Bowl Speedway (TX), State Fair Speedway (OK), with the final event at Lawton Speedway (OK).
The first champion of the series was Garry Lee Maier, since then Terry Gray has won the series 4 times (1995-1998), Gary Wright 4 times (2004-2007), and Tim Crawley 3 times (1994, 1999, 2002).
As well as the American Sprint Cars on Tour series the ASCS sanction Sprint Car Racing events across the country. Broken up into regions, the series sanctions around 224 nights of racing at approximately 100 different speedways throughout the US and Canada. The ASCS regions are: Sooner, Rocky Mountains, Gulf South, Midwest, Southern Tour, Sprints on Dirt, Northern Plains, Mid-South, Patriot, Coastal, Mid-Atlantic, Rebel and Canyon.
