Egel Racing
Egel Racing joined the Sprint Car ranks for the 2006/2007 Australian Speedway season, after 3 years of domination in the V6 Sprint class. In the hands of Matt Egel, the family team, operating out of Adelaide, South Australia, made a successful debut at the 2006 Sprintcar Masters, with Matt winning his first heat. The team competed in numerous World Series Sprintcars and local events, achieving their first A-feature victory at the final round of the Speedway City Track Championship in March 2007.
To improve Matt's knowledge and understanding of Sprint Car racing he spent 3 months of the Australian off-season in the USA crewing for Texan Travis Rilat. After driving a leased car for their first season of competition the team decided to purchase their own car for the 2007/2008 season, with Matt using his time in the US to source the parts required.
The team were able to hit the track for the fourth round of the 2007/2008 World Series Sprintcars at Speedway City with a brand new race car. The Triple XXX chassis powered by a 410ci engine built by local engine builder PM Engines, was a rocket right out of the box with Matt finishing 8th in the A-feature.
Matt has now established himself as one of the leading sprintcar drivers in South Australia. Career highlights include winning the 2010 Sprintcar Masters (setting a new one lap record in the process) and finishing second at a recent World Series Sprintcars event.
